Tesla Model 3+ Unveiled – Ultra-Long Range EV Sedan Targets 800 km on a Single Charge

New single-motor Model 3+ offers huge range boost and efficient performance — what Aussie Tesla owners should know.

Tesla Model 3+ Unveiled – Ultra-Long Range Sedan Set to Debut in China

Tesla is preparing to launch the new Model 3+ — a rear-wheel-drive variant combining a powerful single motor with a high-capacity NMC battery, pushing its estimated range past 800 km on the generous CLTC test cycle. This update could make it Tesla’s longest-range sedan yet.

Long-range performance meets smart configuration

According to China’s regulatory filings, the Model 3+ uses a 78.4 kWh NMC battery from LG Energy Solution paired with a rear motor delivering 225 kW — up from the current 194 kW setup. It weighs approximately 1,760 kg, matches the existing Model 3 dimensions, and may achieve up to 830 km CLTC range.

Official launch and pricing expectations

MIIT (China’s industry regulator) expects the Model 3+ to launch in early September, with a projected starting price of around ¥270,000 (~AUD $57,600), placing it between the base RWD and the Long Range AWD variants.

Why this matters for Australian Tesla drivers

Although currently slated only for China, the Model 3+ highlights Tesla’s continued emphasis on range and efficiency. Aussie drivers interested in high-mileage use — like frequent long-distance trips — should watch for accessories like all-weather floor mats, glass roof sunshade, or other protection accessories.
